Special Event - Poetry Day with Paul Cookson

8 September 2015

On Tuesday 8th of September we had a great Poetry Day. Paul Cookson, Poet in Residence for the National Football Museum and poet Laureate for ‘Slade’, entertained us all day with his super poems. His poetry collections include, Crazy Poems, Disgusting Poems, Silly poems and Football poems. Some accompanied by the ukulele.

We held a special assembly first thing for everyone and then Paul worked with each class to produce their own performance poems. In Class 3 our poem was all about, ’Our School Photograph’. Class 2 created a great poem about the eating habits of the teachers.

In Class 1 they made up a silly poem about their families. At the end of the parents were invited to come and watch our performances and were able to purchase some of poetry books which Paul has signed. It was a real treat and everyone had a great day!
