Event - Countryside Day at Belvoir

24 June 2015

On Wednesday June 24th the whole school spent the day at Belvoir Cricket Ground.

In the morning we were put into groups and some of the crickets coaches helped us with our bowling, catching and batting skills.

We all had a picnic lunch under trees before making our way around the various countryside pursuits enjoyed in the Vale.

We had a talk from the Belvoir gamekeeper who told us all about the animals who live in the local environment. We went down to the river to see and catch some the fish that live there (throwing them back in of course).

Some very clever gun dogs gave us a demonstration of their skills. We met, and were able to hold, an owl called Persil and Scooby Doo, an amazing Harris Hawk.

At the end of the day the Belvoir hounds came down to the river for a dip and we were able to pet some of the very friendly dogs.

It was a very hot day but with plenty of drinks and shade available everyone enjoyed it. Thank you so much to the organisers for making the day great.
