Event - Day Out at Belvoir Cricket Trust

27 May 2010

On Thursday 27th May the whole school spent the day at the ground of Belvoir Cricket Club.

Former Notts Captain, Darren Bicknell, and his team of coaches worked with us all morning. We played some throwing games and then had a game of continuous cricket which was great fun.

After lunch various activities had been set up for us around the ground. They included a local farmer showing us the different crops that are grown in the area. Some very clever Labrador and Spaniel dogs and their owners doing some retrieving. The Gamekeeper brought along some tiny duckling and partridge chicks for us to look at. Also Mr Bicknell told us how cricket bats are made and we saw some Willow trees that have been planted in the Castle Ground. At the end of the day 80 hounds from the Belvoir Kennels came into a paddock and we were able to pat them. Incredibly the men who look after them know them ALL by name!

It was a great day and we all learned something new.
